GIpro DS-series

The ultimate Plug 'n Go gear indicator

The GIpro DS-series is a gear indicator designed for bikes with factory diagnostic connector. Just plug it in and you're ready to ride!

Beware!

A few of our GIpro DS-series models are offered by some Chinese companies too. They use various brandings and logos, including HealTech, Kawasaki, etc. The product looks similar but it has an old firmware, the quality of the components and assembly is poor, the function/performance is lacking, the reliability is weak and warranty is not backed up. Due to poor design and assembly it may damage your bikes’s ECU.
Always be sure to purchase an original GIpro DS-series unit from an authorized HealTech distributor or dealer. If you have any doubts, please contact the distributor in your country.

Highlights

Introduction

The GIpro DS-series from HealTech Electronics is a unique gear position indicator. It is designed for motorcycles equipped with a Diagnostic System connector – the list of supported bikes include fuel injected motorcycles from Honda, Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph and Harley Davidson.

About the GIPro DS

Highly Advanced Technology
Unlike other competitors’ products the GIpro-DS reads the gear position information directly from the ECU, which makes it faster and more reliable than other gear indicators sold today.

Plug ‘n Go, hassle free set-up!
There are no buttons, no “programming wires”. The unit is fully automatic. There’s no need to cut or splice wires and no need to access several connectors. You only need to connect ONE plug under the seat – it can’t get any easier than this.

Size does Matter!
Another unique feature is the size. It is the smallest, most compact gear indicator available. Just the perfect size!

5 display colors
Extra bright, high contrast display which can be seen even in very bright conditions, e.g. direct sunlight. The unit is now available with Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and White color display options.

Simple yet stylish
It has a simple and clear front face which goes along nicely with any OEM/factory instrument panel or aftermarket dash. Less is sometimes more.

Tough design
The product comes in a rugged, 100% weatherproof housing and with a 2-year replacement warranty.

I have a Honda FI model (CBR600F4i), why is this model not supported?
Honda and Kawasaki did not make first generation FI models with a diagnostic system.
The GIpro DS-series will work only on bikes equipped with a Diagnostic System connector. You need the GIpro X-type model which will work perfectly.

I have a 2001 VFR800 FI bike, but you list only the 2003+ models?
Same as above. In general, bike manufacturers started to equip bikes with Diagnostic System in 2003. Be sure to check our application list before ordering.

Why is Yamaha not in your list?
To date, Yamaha bikes do not have Diagnostic System connector. But again, The GIpro X-type will work perfectly.

How does the GIpro DS work?
The unit reads data from the ECU to determine the gear position.
The amount of data and information available varies from bike to bike. For this reason, the GPDS performs better on some bikes than on others.
Only Suzuki bikes and a few Kawasaki models have real Gear Position Sensor. On these bikes, the unit will indicate the correct gear at all times. However, on bikes which do not have Gear Position Sensor (Honda and most Kawasaki), the unit will indicate the correct gear only when the engine is running and clutch is released. While this can be an issue for some, one thing is sure. We make the most out of the available data on a particular bike to make the best gear indicator for your bike. The display lag is also much shorter than on competing products.

My bike is not supported. Can you make a Gear Indicator for this model?
We have the GIpro X-type model which works great on ALL bikes with a 4, 5 or 6 speed gearbox.

I see both the GIpro/ATRE and GIpro DS are available for my bike (GSXR1000 K4). What’s the difference?
› Get the GIpro/ATRE if you want improved performance along with the Gear Indicator function.
› Get the GIpro DS if you need the smallest gear indicator but are not interested in more performance.

I have a TRE module on my Suzuki. Will it interfere with the GIpro DS?
The GPDS will not work if a TRE module is installed. We recommend to get the GIpro/ATRE which has Advanced TRE function built-in.

My bike (ZX6R 2007) does have a factory in-dash gear indicator, but I do not like the small size and design. Can I use your product?
Yes. the GIpro DS will work on this bike, unless you have an X-TRE already installed.

My bike has a Racing ECU, will it interfere with your product?
The GIpro DS will NOT work e.g. with the Honda HRC ECU. Use the GIpro X-type instead. The DS will work fine with the Ducati Racing ECU.

Which display color would you recommend?
The Red and Green colors are the best in strong daylight. Second choice is Blue, then White. Yellow is not recommended unless the
display will be mounted in a shaded location.

Is it compatible with other products, like the SpeedoHealer, Power Commander, Bazzaz, etc.?
Yes.

What does it take to install the DS?
All it takes is to connect ONE plug, which is under the seat on most bikes, easy to reach.
Then route the cable and mount the display with the supplied sticky pads at either side of the dashboard.
For Triumph bikes, you also need to connect one wire to a switched power lead by using the wire tap connector supplied. No need to cut or solder any wires.

What is the difference between the DS and X-type models?
The display size and available colors are exactly the same, but the way it determines the gear position is very different.
The DS works on specific bike models while the X-type works on all bikes with 4, 5 or 6 speed gearbox.
Both models are easy to install but it takes less time to install a DS.
Basically, the choice is simple. Get the DS if it is available for your bike, otherwise get the X-type.

Press reviews and customer feedbacks

Just a short note to once again thank you for your fantastic service and help. I have just returned from 8 days riding in Tasmania, which we have done for the past 4 years, and I must say my riding has never been better over there than it was this year! I attribute that wholly & solely to the gear indicator I installed prior to leaving. Wow! What a difference not trying to keep track of which gear you are in can make to your riding! What a truly fantastic product!!!
John P., Kawasaki ZX-10R (2005)
It works perfectly taking less than a second to show the correct gear. It got it right every time both up and down all 6 gears. I am very pleased with its performance and, as I indicated earlier, it simply could not have been any easier to install. Great product and super customer support.
John, Kawasaki Versys ('08)
My GIpro DS arrived this am. Excellent device. I was concerned about the fit and how tidy the wiring would be. Not a problem, it turned out that the Mrs. could have fitted it herself. It works exactly as it says in the book.
Graham, Kawasaki ER-6F ABS (2010)
Having fitted my recently purchased gear position indicator I would like to say how pleased I am with it. Fitting and set up was a doddle unlike some more expensive items, good product and first class service, Thank you!
Peter C., Honda CBF1000A
I installed a blue LED GIpro DS on my Kawasaki 650r and was out testing it in less than 15 minutes. It really helps for entry level riders who need to concentrate on where the bike is going rather than what gear I am in. This device made me more confident in handling the bike.
Mike S., Kawasaki Ninja 650R
I recieved the GI PRO for my 07 Z1000 and installed it right away. The unit is top quality and the install couldn’t be any easier.
Bryan, Kawasaki Z1000 ('07)
Wonderful piece of kit that takes the guesswork out of gear position. Accurate, reliable and real value for money. So far, has performed perfectly and the build quality makes me think it will continue for a long time yet.
Martin R., Kawasaki Z1000SX
I really love my new GiPro, it’s a modification i would not live without!
Eusun K., Suzuki Boulevard M50 ('08)
Have just fitted the gipro ds-series display in around 20 mins. Works perfectly everytime, great product! Have done about 100 miles since fitting with no problems. Now I know for sure what gear I am in, many thanks.
Stan R., Triumph Thunderbird ('10)
Fitted a DS to my bandit a couple of weeks ago. Brillant product, no lag on gear indication and I would not be without it now. Dont have to remember which gear I am in would definitely recommend it.
Mike L., Suzuki GSF650 Bandit ('07)
I only want to say, I love this accessory!!!!!!!
It brings you so much more than it costs!
Alex K., Kawasaki Z800
Ordered the gi pro gear postion indicator a couple of weeks for my kawasaki versys, and what a great system it is! Fitted in 20 mins, it has a very quick response time on the digital display. Could not be more pleased with your system, thanks!
Stan R., Kawasaki Versys
I bought a GIpro DS gear indicator for my honda fireblade, and i just wanted to say how good it is, and the honda dealer commented how easy it was to fit and set up, compared to rival ones.
Zoe H., Honda CBR1000RR
I completed the installation over the weekend and it could NOT have been easier. It took only about 15 minutes and virtually all of that was routing the wire under the fairing and gas tank. I have never installed any accessory on any motorcycle that has a higher usefulness to cost/ease of installation (i.e. Value).
